We get that you might be wondering just what that means so let us explain.

If you’re part of our garden community then you’ll know we are called Golden Valley Plants, if you have just discovered us, welcome! Our name comes from our location, the beautifully lush, Golden Valley in Herefordshire and we sell plants!

As an online plant business, we are relatively new launching just over 4 years ago but our parent company, Allensmore Nurseries, has been in the industry, for over 50 years, supplying high-quality plants to the very best garden retailers across the UK, including independent garden centres, garden centre groups and leading DIY & grocery multiples. Chances are you’ve already bought one of our plants!

We are a family-run business and fortunate to have great parents who are passionate about plants and supply us with high-quality plants but they have also, like many parents, taught us the importance of doing our very best. So like them, we pride ourselves in our service and reliability and are grateful to them for their continued support and innovation because what they achieve we and you as our customers benefit from.

They measure success by customer satisfaction but also by industry recognition, so recent success at the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) inaugural Ornamental Grower of the Year Awards was a proud moment for everyone. The awards were announced at the HTA’s annual conference in Birmingham in September 2022 and they won Best Finished Plants Grower and were highly commended in the category – Best Inspirational Business. The awards didn’t stop there as this award led them to be nominated for a further international award and in January 2023 they scooped the  Sustainability Grower of the Year Award in Germany.

Back to Golden Valley Plants…

So you know we have great parents and are a family-run business with over 50 years of experience but you might not know that the online team is quite small but like our plants growing. If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook you’ll get to meet some of the team through January 2024 as we go behind the scenes and introduce a few faces whose names you might already know if you are already part of our garden community. We’d love you to follow us on our social media pages or sign up for our newsletter so you don’t miss out and can get to know us a little better.

Something else you might be interested to know is that we have also just invested in new packaging. It’s super sturdy and recyclable, we want our plants to get to you fast but also in great condition so we take great care with our packaging and so far our customers seem to be loving our new delivery boxes.

The environment is so important to us at Golden Valley Plants, yes we want to help you make your garden or outdoor space beautiful and engaging to the eye but we also want to protect it. Our expert growers helped us introduce Plant Collections earlier this year, these include plants selected to meet a need for you as a gardener but also to support the environment so you’ll find a Wildlife Collection because we all know the importance of encouraging insects and pollinators.

In addition and because we have great parents, we also recycle our water to reuse onsite and we are proud to say this approach has won Allensmore Nurseries sustainability awards. Around the nursery, you’ll also find 11 bird boxes, 3 bat boxes and 250 holly plants – we can’t just suggest you do it and not do it ourselves!

Hopefully, you’ve learnt a little more about us and why to us a green space starts in a Golden Valley. If you’re not already we hope you’ll become part of our garden community as we look forward to Christmas gifting and then an exciting 2024 which in addition to an increased selection of perennial plants, will include more roses as we look to introduce our perfect rose collection to you. Don’t forget a green space starts with a Golden Valley!
