One of the most popular perennials, Salvia welcome wildlife into the garden all summer long. Cut back this great garden performer when the flowers start to fade and it will reward you with another flush of flowers. They hold the RHS Plants for Pollinators and the RHS Award for Garden Merit
Our Plant of the Month is easy to care for and requires very little maintenance. For best results they prefer a sunny, sheltered spot and a moist, but well-drained soil. Salvia are fairly drought tolerant, but they will require more regular watering until established.
Mulch annually with well-rotted manure, or garden compost. Remove faded flower spikes to encourage repeat flowering and cut back in the autumn after flowering has finished.
We have a selection of Salvia available on our website including the Salvia Caradonna, a multi award winner that has glowing dark purple stems and stunning, vertical spikes of rich, violet-blue flowers.
