Achillea New Vintage Rose is a delightful spreading perennial, boasting a profusion of bright rose-pink flower clusters that have an attractive cream centre from early Summer to early Autumn. Achillea provides vast amounts of landing pads for pollinators, produced on upright, branching stems that float above the grey green fern like foliage. This versatile yet fully hardy beauty has an exceptionally long flowering period from May to September. New Vintage Rose is a traditional beauty that once established will brighten up any border, yet is drought-tolerant so perfect for a low maintenance space in your garden design. Achillea offers pollinators a much-needed energy boost with its easily accessible nectar yet is resistant to the rabbits. Our New Vintage Rose loves the Summer sun and so is heat and drought tolerant. This Achillea will most certainly brighten up any garden throughout the summer months, it is fully hardy and suitable for a wide selection of gardens. Its versatile aesthetic will brighten any Cottage Gardens, Informal Gardens, Mediterranean Gardens or containers or low maintenance spaces where the hosepipe doesn’t quite reach. The compact habit makes it ideal for under planting in your flower beds to add depth and texture. What a wise vintage rose she is, spreading glorious impact whatever place she nestles.

Planting Conditions

Achilleas like any position in the garden with a full level of sun and will survive slightly sheltered or exposed positions, will grow well in moist, well-drained soil but will tolerate almost any soil type, so is a good bet for any garden.

Watering & Feeding

Achillea can get all the moisture they need from rainfall so extremely low maintenance if planted into your flowerbeds due its tolerance of drought conditions. Often, intense heat in high summer months would be the only time they would require an extra watering. Whilst establishing we recommend regular watering if your plant is placed in a pot or container. The best way to fertilise this perennial is to mulch annually in Springtime with a generous layer of well-rotted manure or garden compost of around 2-3 inches and to grow in moderately light, fertile soil which is well drained.

General Care

For perfect flower power, it is advisable to remove spent flowers once they fade and your Achillea will be encouraged to continue producing its impactful blooms right through the summer months. Don’t forget that perennials can be cut back quite hard if needed but a light prune between May and September will encourage more of the beautiful landing pads for those bees Pests to look out for are those nasty aphids and can be susceptible to powdery mildew.
