Beyond its visual appeal, 'Irish Silk' is a resilient and adaptable plant, thriving in various soil types and light conditions. Its drought tolerance and minimal maintenance requirements make it a favourite among busy gardeners seeking effortless beauty. Selected for its enchanting foliage, graceful blooms, and ease of care, 'Irish Silk' is a valuable addition to our range. Whether used as a ground cover or a focal point, this Alchemilla adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any garden design.

Planting Conditions

To cultivate thriving Alchemilla 'Irish Silk,' choose a partially shaded area with well-draining soil. Plant during the Spring or Autumn, avoiding frosty periods. Prepare the soil by incorporating organic matter to improve its structure and fertility. Dig a hole twice the width of the plant's root ball and place it at the same level as the surrounding soil. Backfill and gently firm the soil around the roots. Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil, and mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Watering & Feeding

Water newly planted Alchemilla 'Irish Silk' regularly to establish roots, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged. Once established, they become more drought-tolerant but still benefit from occasional watering during dry spells. Avoid overhead watering to prevent foliar diseases. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in Spring to provide essential nutrients for healthy growth. Additionally, top-dress the soil with compost annually to enrich the soil and promote vigorous growth. Adjust watering frequency and fertiliser application based on weather conditions and plant growth.

General Care

Alchemilla 'Irish Silk' generally requires minimal care once established. Remove spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming and prevent self-seeding. Additionally, prune back any dead or damaged foliage to maintain plant health and appearance. Every few years, divide overcrowded clumps to rejuvenate the plant and promote better growth. While Alchemilla is relatively pest and disease-resistant, monitor for any signs of infestation or disease and address them promptly if detected. With minimal attention, 'Irish Silk' will reward you with its delicate foliage and charming blooms season after season.
