Commonly known as ‘Columbines’ or ‘Granny’s Bonnet’ due to the nodding flowers that sit on top of tall wiry stems. ‘Aquilegia Green Apples’ is a deciduous perennial with creamy white flowers that open from bright green buds. Adored by bees, this easy to grow cottage garden favourite will add plenty of early season colour to the border.

Granny's Bonnet are easy to manage and perform best in rich soils that are moist but well-drained and can be grown in sun or partial shade. During the first year water regularly until established. Remove seed heads before they disperse their contents, otherwise the parent plant may be crowded out by its own offspring. Save the seed and sow it fresh if you want more plants elsewhere. Remove faded flower spikes after flowering. Feed once a month with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
