Aster should be watered before planting, then placed into the soil at the same level as it was in the pot. They should be cut back in autumn for maintained growth, though besides the they are quite low maintenance. There is little chance of pests in the UK for Asters, though they can be prone to slugs sometimes, which can be combatted with effective use of bait.
