Camassia ‘Maybelle’ (Wild Hyacinth)
£20.00
Camassia are hardy, perennial bulbs that return reliably year after year. ‘Maybelle’ has been specially bred to be more compact and to flower slightly later than other Camassia varieties. In late spring to early summer, sturdy stems emerge bearing striking spires of large, violet-blue, star-shaped flowers. ‘Maybelle’ is a firm favourite with us at the nursery; its refined form and manageable height, make it an excellent choice for adding mid-level colour, interest, and elegance to your garden borders.

Description
Camassia ‘Maybelle’ is a striking spring-flowering bulb prized for its elegant form, soft colour palette, and naturalistic charm also know as Wild Hyacinth. Emerging in mid to late spring, it produces upright spires of star-shaped flowers in delicate shades of pale lavender-blue, each bloom subtly highlighted by a lighter centre. The flowers are arranged along sturdy stems that rise gracefully above clumps of narrow, grass-like green foliage, creating a refined vertical accent in the garden.
Growing to approximately 60–80 cm tall, Camassia ‘Maybelle’ is well suited to mixed borders, meadow-style plantings, and woodland-edge gardens, where it blends beautifully with other spring perennials and ornamental grasses. It thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers moist, fertile soil, making it an excellent choice for damp areas or alongside ponds and streams. Unlike many bulbs, Camassia tolerates heavier soils, provided drainage is reasonable.
Highly attractive to pollinators, especially bees, Camassia ‘Maybelle’ adds ecological value as well as ornamental appeal. Once established, it naturalizes readily, forming increasingly impressive drifts year after year with minimal maintenance. Its understated beauty and reliability make it a superb choice for gardeners seeking a graceful, long-lived spring feature with a distinctly natural look.
If ordered in Winter months the pot appears bare but believe us it holds a thing of beauty - just awaiting to emerge!Planting Conditions
