Delphinium ‘Delgenius Neva’

Attracts Wildlife
60cm x 45cm
Fully Hardy

Delphinium ‘Delgenius Neva’ shines in our nursery, pairing beautifully with English Lavender and Roses in sunny gardens. Part of the Delgenius series, bred for sturdier, more compact growth than traditional Larkspurs, it’s a cut flower sensation. Our head grower adores seeing it planted in mixed borders, where its vibrant blooms stand out, adding a dash of colour and interest to any space.

The Delphinium Delgenius series is a brand new series of three different colours of Delphinium. All have been bred to be significantly more sturdy and compact than other Delphiniums, with a wonderful multi branching habit which means they continually produce semi-double flowers throughout the Summer months. These perennials are a dream for cutting gardens and are as happy in a pot as they are in the border. Delphiniums need to be in the sun for at least half of the day, so choose a spot in the garden accordingly. Soil must be fertile and free draining; If your soil is poor then dig in plenty of new compost or organic matter to enrich it. Water plants well to establish and maintain a regular watering and feeding schedule throughout the months that the plant is growing. Flower spikes may need to be tied to a stake to stop them from blowing over and getting damaged. Remove dead flowers and once the plant has finished its 1st flush of flowering in Late May / Early June, chop the plant back by half to encourage a second flush later in the summer. This is often called the 'Chelsea Chop', as plants tend to be nearing the end of their 1st flush around the time of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
