Hemerocallis prefer moist but not waterlogged soil, and whilst they can cope with drought once they are established it will mean that they do not flower as much.  They love basking in the sun but this can fade the flower colours so can also be planted in partial shade too if preferred.  As with all plants, water well to establish the plant and feed during the growing season.
