We are regal supporters of the Papaver Poppy 'Royal Wedding.' A botanical masterpiece; this oriental Poppy showcases pristine white blooms reminiscent of delicate bridal veils. With velvety black centres, these blooms add a touch of sophistication to the back of your well-drained sunny borders. Standing tall on sturdy stems reaching up to 80cm, 'Royal Wedding' presents a wonderful focal point in any garden and works well with both 'hot' and 'cool' shaded colour schemes in your garden design. A fast-growing and enchanting perennial, 'Royal Wedding' swiftly emerges, making a prompt and vibrant appearance in the garden in early Summer. Carefully selected by our dedicated growers for its breath-taking impact, this Poppy brings a touch of royal elevation to beds and borders and has proven a popular choice for many years. The mid-green leaves provide a lush backdrop, enhancing the overall visual impact and fills spaces nicely alongside your other Summer perennials. While 'Royal Wedding' is short-lived (ephemeral), its ability to self-seed add an element of natural growth and establishment to the garden. Recognized with the RHS Plants for Pollinators award, these Poppies not only captivate with their long-stemmed dancing flowers but also support pollinating insects. Poppy seed heads provide wonderful bird feed for Autumn too!

When planting Poppy 'Royal Wedding,' consider key factors for optimal growth. Choose well-drained soil in a sunny location, providing a minimum of 6 hours of sunlight daily. Maintain adequate spacing of 12-18 inches between plants to allow proper air circulation. Optimal planting times are in early Spring or Autumn for successful establishment, avoiding planting in frosts. These factors contribute to the health and vigour of 'Royal Wedding,' ensuring a robust display of classic poppy blooms in your garden. Following these planting conditions provides a solid foundation for the perennial's growth and overall performance in your outdoor space.

To maintain Poppy 'Royal Wedding,' adopt an 'easy-care' approach to watering and feeding. Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging, especially during dry spells. This perennial doesn't demand excessive watering, making moderation key. As for feeding, 'Royal Wedding' is relatively undemanding. A balanced, slow-release fertiliser applied in early Spring provides sufficient nutrients for healthy growth. However, avoid over-fertilising to prevent excessive lushness. With careful attention to watering and modest feeding, this poppy variety will reward you with its vibrantly dramatic blooms, showcasing its natural beauty without any overwhelming maintenance.

Caring for Poppy 'Royal Wedding' is straightforward. Regular deadheading with the removal of spent blooms, encourages continuous flowering and maintains a tidy appearance. We suggest cutting back hard after flowering to promote a second flush of flowers. Monitor for potential pests and diseases, addressing any signs promptly to preserve the plant's health. Adequate spacing of 12-18 inches promotes good air circulation and reduces the risk of fungal issues. This perennial generally requires minimal care beyond these considerations, allowing you to enjoy its classic poppy blooms with ease. With straightforward care measures, 'Royal Wedding' stands as a resilient and impactful addition to your garden, bringing a timeless elegance to your outdoor space.
