Polemonium are easy to grow, doing well in most fertile, moist but well-drained soils. They can be planted in a sunny or shady spot, but leaf and flower colour are best if planted in a position that receives both sun and shade. During the first season water regularly not allowing the soil to dry out. For more flowers and foliage apply a balanced fertiliser in April and again in June. Cut the plant back after flowering to encourage a second flush of flowers.
