Also known as 'Black Eyed Susan' this award winning hardy perennial attracts bees and other wildlife into the garden when other plants have finished flowering. From mid-summer 'Little Gold Star' produces a profusion of bright yellow flowers with brown central cones that the bees just love to land on. Not only does this variety add plenty of sunshine to the garden, it also makes a great cut flower.

Planting Conditions

Rudbeckia require ground which is moist and well-drained throughout their growing season. They prefer full sun or partial shade and grow in all types of ground from clay to sandy soils.

Watering & Feeding

Water regularly during the summer months, Rudbeckia are low maintenance if the soil is naturally kept moist.

General Care

Remove faded flower stems to prolong flowering. In autumn, cut back to a neat mound or, if you wouldn’t mind a few more Black Eyed Susan plants, let the last blooms go to seed for the birds. The seed heads can also be cut and dried to propagate new plants.
