The blooms of flower are uniquely shaped and arrive in Spring, flowering continuously until the first frost in around September.  As a result, this delicately pink Salvia holds an RHS Plants for Pollinators registration due to the declining wildlife that is attracted to its nectar rich properties. The striking pink perennial is a delight in a wide selection of gardens. Its versatile aesthetic will as such, suit; Courtyard and City Gardens, Gravel Gardens, Coastal or Cottage Gardens, Informal Gardens, Wall side borders, Flower borders and containers. Mirage Soft Pink is hardy, and once established, is drought-tolerant making it very low maintenance. Requiring only a light prune and dead head of spent flowers it’s a glorious impactful plant to add your garden that adds flowers to your space from June right through until the first frost in around September. As Salvia are drought tolerant once established it makes a perfect addition to a low maintenance space or for the end of the garden where the hosepipe doesn’t quite reach. The compact height makes it ideal for under planting in your flower beds, beneath larger shrubs and roses.

Planting Conditions

Salvia Mirage Soft Pink likes any position in the garden with light to full level of sun. It seeks a slightly sheltered position and will overwinter given good sun and drainage. Salvias excel well in rich, fertile soils; provided they are moist, but well-drained. Adding sand or grit to your soil will help the conditions along for this striking little perennial. Planting at the front of borders will support it’s search for the sunshine.

Watering & Feeding

Salvias can get all the moisture they need from rainfall; as once they are established, they are drought tolerant. This means that they are minimal maintenance if planted into your flowerbeds. Often, intense heat in high summer months would be the only time they would require an extra watering. Whilst establishing we recommend regular watering if your Salvia is placed in a pot or container until drought resistant. The best way to fertilise your Salvia Mirage Soft Pink is to mulch annually in Springtime with a generous layer of well-rotted manure or garden compost of around 2-3 inches and to grow in moderately light, fertile soil which is well drained.

General Care

For perfect flower power, it is advisable to remove spent flowers once they fade and your Salvia will be encouraged to continue producing its impactful blooms right through until the first frost in around September. To keep the overall shape of the Salvia Mirage Soft Pink, we advise you snip away any unsightly shoots to encourage a strong plant overall. Salvias like a well-drained soil so if you have clay soil your Mirage would fare better in pots, containers or even window boxes. This plant generally avoids pests but may suffer from slugs, snails and leafhoppers.
