Description
Trollius 'Lemon Queen' earns great admiration from our head grower for its radiant yellow blooms and adaptability to moist garden conditions. This perennial gem thrives in boggy areas near water features or in damp woodland settings, where its vibrant flowers add a pop of colour to the beds and borders.
Our head grower often combines Trollius 'Lemon Queen' with companions like Astilbes and Ligularias to create visually captivating displays with a harmonious blend of colours and textures. The contrasting hues and varied foliage create an eye-catching focal point in any garden setting.
Recognised with the RHS Plants for Pollinators award, Trollius 'Lemon Queen' is not only a visual delight but also a magnet for bees and butterflies, contributing to garden biodiversity. Its long-lasting blooms provide a vital food source for pollinators throughout the growing season, making it an essential addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
Planting Conditions
To cultivate Trollius 'Lemon Queen' successfully, opt for heavy, water-retentive soil to ensure adequate moisture for the plant's growth. Select a planting site with access to sunlight to promote proper flowering. The ideal location receives partial shade to full sun, allowing the plant to thrive. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. With these planting conditions, Trollius 'Lemon Queen' can establish robustly and produce its vibrant blooms.
Watering & Feeding
Regular watering is crucial for Trollius 'Lemon Queen,' especially during dry periods when the soil tends to dry out quickly. Keep a close eye on soil moisture levels and water the plant as needed to prevent dehydration. Additionally, regular fertilisation is recommended to promote healthy flower development. Apply a balanced fertiliser according to package instructions to provide essential nutrients for vigorous growth and abundant blooms. With proper watering and feeding, Trollius 'Lemon Queen' will thrive and display its stunning flowers in your garden.
General Care
Trollius 'Lemon Queen' requires minimal care beyond regular watering and fertilisation. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage continuous blooming and maintain the plant's tidy appearance. Prune any damaged or dead foliage as needed throughout the growing season. This plant typically exhibits good resistance to diseases and pests, but occasional monitoring for common issues like aphids or powdery mildew is advisable. With proper care and maintenance, Trollius 'Lemon Queen' will reward you with its vibrant yellow flowers and lush foliage.
