Here at the nursery, we think these potted Bay Trees will look absolutely stunning positioned by Your front door or patio, decorated with fairy lights, welcoming you home and brightening your doorway and gardens during darker evenings.  They serve as living Christmas Trees in the run up to festivities as they have been beautifully trimmed into traditional Christmas Tree pyramids.  Unlike cut Christmas trees these bay tree pyramids can of course be planted in gardens to thrive or kept in their pots and trimmed regularly to maintain their neat form.  We also love plants having a dual purpose; bay leaves can be picked and added as seasoning to casseroles, roasts, stews and soups bringing their delicious flavour to your recipes. Their lemon-coloured flowers, which appear in the Spring, help to attract pollinators to your garden. Bay Trees are hardy plants tolerating temperatures down to -5 as long as they are positioned in a sheltered spot protected from strong winds they will thrive planted in both pots and in the ground.  Delivered at a height of 70cm including the pot. Slow-growing but if left untrimmed the Bay Laurels can reach an eventual height of up to 12m and with a spread of 10m but are very easy to trim and maintain. With this in mind they are extremely resilient, long living plants and trimmed as desired will undoubtedly give you decades of pleasure.

Bay Trees can be planted in most fertile, well-drained soil and prefer a sheltered position in sun or partial shade. They are happy planted in containers or in free-draining soil, in a warm, sheltered, sunny or part-shaded spot. By keeping bay trees out of strong winds and avoiding growing them in damp ground will mean they thrive for many years.

If planted in a pot they will need more regular watering, especially during the drier months of the year. Add controlled-release fertiliser granules to the compost in mid-spring or liquid feed every two weeks in mid-spring to late summer. Do not allow to dry out in summer but equally do not allow them to sit in water allow water to drain from pots and containers.

They will not perform well in heavy clay soils unless the soil is improved with extra sand and grit.  Trim to maintain shape in spring and summer. Do not eat leaves although you can use them to add delicious flavour to dishes.
