Fatsia ‘Japonica’ is a tropical-looking, evergreen shrub prized for it’s huge, glossy, deep green leaves. Add it to the patio for instant impact or try it in a exotic-style garden, where the leaves go well with Bamboo, Canna and Grasses. It also makes a great focal point for shadier areas of the garden. Although grown predominantly for the leaves, in autumn creamy white flowers appear and are followed by round, black fruits.

Description

Fatsia tolerate most soil types that are moist but well-drained and can be grown in dappled or full shade, but prefer a sheltered position away from cold winds. During the first year give it a good water once a week, but once established it should be fairly self sufficient unless grown in a container. Fatsia are fairly fast growing so can be trimmed in spring and summer to control their size. A general slow-release shrub fertiliser can be applied in the spring to promote healthy growth.
