Lavenders grow best in well drained soil in a sheltered, but sunny location. During the first year water regularly during dry periods, decreasing to every other week once established. To encourage a second flush cut each flower stem back to the first set of leaves, once the plant has completely finished flowering cut the flower stems back by up-to one half but be careful not to cut into the woody growth or they will not regrow. Do not prune after mid-August. Feed in spring with a balanced, slow release fertiliser.
