Knautia is a popular late summer perennial. Crimson pincushion-like flowers appear from July to September and are a magnet for bees and butterflies. They are perfect for filling gaps in borders where earlier flowering perennials are fading, and also work well in wildflower meadow schemes.

Description
Knautia grow best in slightly alkaline, well drained soil. They will need to be in a nice sunny spot and as the plant can sprawl, so you may need to stake to support depending on whether you're happy for a natural look or if you have more formal borders. Water well to establish and feed fortnightly from July to September.
